I believe that words matter and that stories can change the world. I am passionately committed to supporting fiction and nonfiction writers build sustainable writing practices that enable them to write bravely, boldly, and beautifully with maximum efficiency and success.

With over fifteen years experience teaching and editing, as well as professional success writing my own fiction, I’m privileged to work with new writers, seasoned storytellers, and all the folks in between. Whether you’ve got a new idea that’s percolating, or you’re confronting writers’ block, cruising through revisions, or ready to pitch to agents, I have tools and techniques to help.

Book Coach & Editor

I'm Rebecca.

Welcome!

Beside the sweet peas and behind the lettuce patch, my connection to the land grew deep roots. My husband and I welcomed goats, sheep, and chickens to the farm, along with three baby boys.

It was a perfect chapter, but toward the end I realized that I enjoyed writing about the farm more than farming, and so I closed that book and started a new story that got me back to my writing roots. I launched a freelancing career as a writer for national publications, ghostwrote several books for a nationally recognized educator, taught writing, published my fiction in literary journals, and went on to work as an editor.

Years of experience writing, editing, and teaching writing inspired my decision to become an Author Accelerator certified book coach. Today I help writers sow their own creative seeds and watch with delight when their stories come to fruition.

The truth is, life is complicated and the paths worth taking are rarely the straight ones.

I’ve been a reader and writer all my life (I’ll bet you can relate). After a couple of years traveling and teaching overseas, I landed in Washington, DC, where I spent my nights and weekends writing fiction and my days writing grants for DC non-profit organizations.

After five years in the city, the Adirondack mountains, country air, and starry skies pulled me away from Washington and onto an 87 acre sustainable farm.

How it all started

You’ve been pitching your book to agents but havent gotten any bites. You aren’t ready to give up, but you need to strategize a new plan.

You’ve written your manuscript. You’ve shared it, revised it, revised it again. You’ve polished your story and now it sparkles. It’s ready for submission, but queries, synopsis letters, and agent pitches, oh my! You don’t know where to begin.

You’re deep in revisions. Parts of your story work, but you want to take your story to the next level.

Your inner critic isn’t playing nice. Self-doubt stands in the way between you and your story. You need a sounding board–an objective professional to applaud what’s working and to point out new possibilities.

You have a big idea that won’t let go, but getting started, organizing plot points, structuring your narrative, and fleshing out characters is holding you back.

I'm here to help you

How Can I Best Help You?

― Natalie Goldberg, Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within

“It is odd that we never question the feasibility of a football team practicing long hours for one game; yet in writing we rarely give ourselves the space for practice.”
